LAND BOARD.
The Land Board meeting on Wednesday was attended by Messrs J. P. Maitland (chief commissioner 1 , Clark, and Dallas.
Otepopo — Roberc Douglas applied for a lease of the quarry reserve next to section 35, block I, Otepopo, for grazing purposes. — The board agreed to transfer the license on arrears of rent being paid. Bender. — The Roxburgh Mining Association wrote protesting against the river sections in block Vl,Benger, bcin=, disposed of. The warden wrote stating that if; would be inadvisable to alienate the land.- Sections to be withheld from sale.
KufiOW. — Eraser and Stilling wrote on behalf of Robert Muir, holderof fiveacres of coal reserve, section 3, block IV, Kurow, applyidg for the grazing right over the remainder of the section. — Referred to the chief surveyor.
Wardens — The suggestion of theOhief Commissioner that Messrs Richard Corbett (Olyde) and S. R. Quartley (Paluierston) be appointed Crown land rangers was approved. Moultere. — James Cowan, licensee of Run 221 d, aaked the board to allow him to alter the boundary live between his run and Bun 221 c by which 1286 acres of the former would be included in the latter. — Agreed to.
Woodlands. — James Stansfield asked that section 20, block 111, Woodlands, lately held by Maloney, be divided among the surrounding holders, some of whom were short of the area they were entitled to. — Referred to the chief surveyor to report a3 to the advisability of complying with request. Molyneux. — Ranger Hughan recommended fhat the uusold sections in blocks XXXV, XXXVf, XLV, XL VI, and XLVIII, Molyumx township, be opened as village settlement small farm allotments at 20s per acre. — Government to be recommended accordingly.
Highlay. — Sheep Inspector Quartley, reporting on an application to have sections 20, 21, 23, 25, 33, 37, 38, and 40 to 44 notified under the act, stated that they were not likely to be taken up under the village settlement sj r stem. He osrimated their capital value at 12s 61 per ;iore. — It was resolved to notify the land open as ordinary Orown land. New Applications —David Jones applied to purchase rural section 74, block VI If, Dunedin md Eabt Taieri. — Appruvtd. Robert Johnstone applied to transfer.perpetu.il lease section 44, block X, Miniototo, to Mr Forrest. — Approved. Donall M'Keuzie applied for a transfer of his section 4, block XIII, Tarras, to James M'lfcsuzie. — Approved, subject to payment of rent. J.Stuart applied to surrender perpetual lease section 20, block IX, Tuapeka West — Surrender acoepfed subject to payment of rent to date of surrender and consent of mortgagee being indorsed on iease. Margaret Freeiand applied to surrender small gracing run siction•s, block XLIV, Swinbiirn.— Surrender accepted as from June G last, any arrears of rent co be deducted from valuation or paid by presentholder if she again applies before taking up new l<>ase.
Maniototo. — The board fixed the capital value of beefcion 14, block XIII, Maniototo, afe 20i \>er acre, and appointed District Surveyor Barron to value the improvements thereon, the surrender of James Green's perpetual lease having been accepted. St. Bathans-S. E M'Cariby, on behalf of Mary EUoger. asked that section 8, block I, St. Batbans, b. a put up for sale at auction with valuation to tun amount of £35. — Referred to district land officer for report on the nature a ii val-ip of i-i-iproveirr-uts. Bi-ackstone —W. L. Simpson, on behalf of William Fisher, applied for the grazing right over si-fitioa 10, block V, Blackstone, on the usual conditions, and stated that he would keep the land clear of rabbits.— Referred to the chief conictii'-sio 1 <r.
