The match Australians v. an Eleven"* England, postponed from yesterday, &v\ at Hastings to-day. The Australians made 168 in their »» innings, the highest' scorers being M'^ nell (36), Lyons (32), and Jarvis (23). In the cricket match against the AustralJans the Eleven of England made only 8£ in their second inninejs, the Australians thus winning by an innings and 17 runs. In the second innings of the local men Shilling was highest scorer with 28 (not out). Turner was almost unplayable, and nine wickets fell to him for 37 rans. The attendance was small a nd the weather cloudy. August 6. The match against Kent was commenced at Canterbury this morning. The Australians went' to fche wickets and made 116, Jones being the highest scorer with 24 (not out.) In the match against Kent, M'Donnell made 23, Trott 18, Edwards 18. The county team in their first innings made 107. Turner took four wiokets for 41 runs, Ferris five wickets for 40, Worrall one for 14. At the close of the day's play the Australians, in their* second innings, had scored 6 without the loss of a wicket. The Australians have arranged a match against an eleven of the South of England, to be played at Hastings in September. August 7. The match against Kent was resumed today. At the luncheon adjournment the Anstralians had lost five wickets for 95 runs. In their second innings the Australians made 152. Bonnor batted vigorously for 43, Edwards scored 33 ; Trott, 22 ; Lyons (not out), 22. Kent, requiring 211 to tie them, went in for their second innings, and at the close of the day's play had lost seven wickets for 65. The wicket was slow, and the light only moderately good. There was a good attendance of spectators during the day.' Both teams will be entertained at dinner this evening by Mr Henniker Heaton, member for Canterbury.
