LACROSSE.
A club match was played by the Duuedin Club at the Oval on Saturday afternoon between teams captained by M'Kerrow and Try thai!, which resulted in a win for the former by 5 goals to 2. The play in the first spell was in favour of Trythall's side by 2 goals to 1, but in the second spell the game was all in favour of the other team, 4 goals being secured by them in succeasiou. This was maiuly duo to the pretty play and passing of Sharp, M'Kerrow, and Mit. choll. For M'Kerrow's side the goals were got by the captain (1), Sharp (2), Mnnder (1), and Coulls (1), and for Trythall's side H. Wilson (1) and Marshall (1). v ' A very enjoyable game was played by the newly formed Balclutba Club on Saturday afterj noon. The sides were President y, Vice-presi« dent, and were captained by Stophenson and Fleming respectively. During the first spell the President's side got a lead of four goalj (B— 4), but their opponents pulled up well in the second half, and were eventually only beaten bj one goal (8 — 9). There is still a good deal of shinty about the game, players finding a diffi« culty in picking up the ball when pursued. Thii will, however, soon disappear if practice ia kepi up regularly.
It is intended to invite several members of the Dunedin Club down shortly to give the local playera a few wrinkles.
