Grant's Braes.
The name was given by the Rev. Mr Burns in commemoration of an old familiar locality in the land of his birth. It has, however, been relegated into the past by the substitution by new proprietors of the more renowned title <sf Waverley, and to meet the requirements of the times it has also been altered from agricultural fame to the position of a township, in which a considerable number of sections have been sold ' and several residences put up. It would be an almost endless task to write of the efforts which from time to time have been made to improve the mode of communication between Anderson's Bay and the city, all of which have proved abortive. Trams have been constructed and perished, ferry boats have been started and come to grief, and the projected bridge from Jetty street jetty to Vauxhall seems to hang fire indefinitely.
