NELSON STEEPLECHASE MEETING.

The weather was perfect for the Steeplechase meeting, but the attendance was not very good, although the sport was excellent. Mr Newman's Don won the Trial Steeplechase Handicap, Mr D. Young's Prince Recond, and Mr P. Adams' Glencoe third. The Hurdle Handicap was won by F. Green's Dangerous, H. Satherly's Oceola being second, and J. Satherly's Myrtle third. This was a grand race, and was won by a neck. Dividend, £24 18s. The Winter Oats was won by Warren's Sweetie, with W. R. Clark's Patriciua second, and Warm's Regent third. The Nelson Steeplechase Handicap was won by H. Satherly's Oceola, with T. Newman's Don second, and Alexander's Orient third. All the jumps were taken in fiae style, and the race was exciting throughout. The Trotting Handicap, in harness, was won by Askew's Sydney, Harley's Antelope second, and Canning's Marigold third.
