At the luncheon adjournment Yorkshire — in the match against the Australian cricketers — had lost uvo wickets for IG9.

At the close of the day's play Yorkshire had lost seven wickets for 344 runs. Wainwright scored 105 ; Hurst, 87 ; Hall, 42. Three wickets fell to Bannerman. The match was declared diawn. The wicket to-day was very greasy. The next match against the Australian Eleven begins at Manchester to-day, when they will meet the North of England. The latter team is fairly strong, and is composed almost entirely of Notts and Lancashire players, ' ' vV

London, Jane 2&, A match between the Australian Eleven and a North of England Eleven was commenced to-day at Manchester. Heavy rain fell on the previous night, and the weather to-day was very cold and showery. The North of England captain won the toss, and elected to bat. The wicket was all in favour of the bowlers, and the first innings of the Englishmen closed for 93. Sugg scored 29, Barlow 23, and Briggs 18. Ferris secured five wickets for 3S runs, Turner four for 85, and Boyle one for 12. At the close, of the day's play the Australians had lost five wickets for 55. The following were the Australian scores : — M'Donnell, 5 ; Bannerman (not out), 9 Trotfc, 18; Bonnor, 3; Jarvis, 12; Blackham, 2 ;• Turner (not ont), 3 ; sundries, 3. About 3000 spectators were present during the day's play. The mate!) against the Gentlemen of Scotland (fixed for 12th July at Edinburgh) has fallen through. A match has been fixed for that date at Stoke between the Australian Eleven and an Eleven of England. „
