It is expected that the work of repairing the cables will not be accomplished without great difficulty, owing lo the great depth of water on the cable route. It is thought that the British steamer Clonciorry, due at Thursday Island on Sunday, may bring cablegrams from Banjoewangie.
The blacks are again very troublesome in the Northern Territory, and it is reported that several murders have recently been committed by them.

The Assembly last night, adopted a duty of Is per 1001b on wheaten flour and lOd per 1001b on bran ; wooden doors, 20 per cent. ; cement, 9d per cwt.
