HORSE MARKET.

Weight, Stbphenson, and Co. report as follows :—: —

The supply of horses for Saturday's sale was very small— in fact the most meagre that we have had for many months. There were not more than eight or ten fresh country horses forward, so that only a limited amount of bus'ness was done under "the hammer. If, however, horaes of the descriptions in demand had been in, sales at good prices could without difficulty, have been effected. The classes wanted are— Extra heavy young draught geldings suitable for stone carting, and subject to tria's) ; upstanding hacks and Indian remounts ; a few firstclass well-matched pairs of carriage horses (bays preferred) with good action,. and thoi'oughly reliable, would Bell well. Medium draughts and the commoner descriptions of hacks and light harness horses command little attention, and are only saleable at quotations. Our ordinary sales comprise three special draught geldings at from £24 to £30, four unbroken good draught colts and fillies at from £14 to £20, the well-known prize hackney Skylark at 35gs, and the equally well-known hunter Bugler at 2?>ga, also a number of useful hacks, light harness horses, and medium draughts at quotations. We quote firstclass draughts at from £20 to £30 ; medium, £10 to £17 ; light and aged, £3 to £8 ; first-class carriage horses, £20 to £30; upstanding hacbs and Indian remounts, £10 to £20 ; ordinary hacks and light harness horses, £5 to £10 ; inferior aud nged, £2 to £i.
