WAIKOIKOI.
July 2.— A peculiar error occurre ) in the paragraph in my last letter alluding to tin accident to Mr James Graham's mill, through the reading of " burning"for "overturning." Fire was not the cause of the damage, water and breakage being quite disastrous enough without the aid of their more powerful ally, A quadrille assembly has been formed, and promises to be a great success. Objectiou is taken by some p ope to the school being l~nt tor the purpose, but until we get a hall there Is no other building available. I s' c that the Government, in view of some country schools haviog been burnt down, are also objecting to their use for dancing and kindred amusements on account of the risk run. This diffi cult might begot over by the committee only lendiug it on condition that the building be insured against fire on the night of the entertainment.
Ecclesiastical. — The Hey Mr Scorgie's services continue to bo well attended, notwithstanding the scattered districts and long distances many of his hearers nave to walk and ride. I think that it would be a great improvement and a comfort to the congregation if the church committee were to cause a fire to be lit in the schoolroom, last Sunday, for instance, was a miserably cold day, and the absence of a fire certainly did not improve matters.
