Reefton Mining Notes.

Reefton, June 28.
Globe.— The battery will be started on Saturday (to-morrow), there being 500 tons of stone on hand.
Rbefton, July 1. The following are the battery returns for the past week :— Keep-it-Eark, 4160z of amalgam for the wek (general cleaning up) ; Welcome, 2640z from 67 tons; Fiery Cross Extended, 2750z of amalgam from 110 tor.6 ; Progress, 178oz of amalgam for the week (general cleaning up) ;. Venus Extended, 311oz retorted gold from 425 tons.
Globe.— Crushing was commenced yesterday. The mine manager reports that during the month the east drive has been extended 38ft, making the total distance from the crosscut 74ft. Tho reef now shows 10ft 6in in the face. The rise broke through to the winze yesterday. The west drive has been extended 58ft during the month, making the total length from the crosscut 96f b.
Reefton, July 3. The following calls are announced for the current month : — Rainy Creek Extended, 2d ; Welcome, 5s per share ; Lyell Creek Extended, Id; Empress, Id; Argrosy, Id; South Welcome, Id ; Scotia, Id ; Sir Francis Drake, 3d ; Lone Star, Id ; Nil Desperandum, 2d ; Bannockburn, Id ; Happy Valley, Id ; Gallant, Id ; Specimen, Id ; Golden Hill, Id.
Scotia. — The manager reportß that a shotwas put into the reef this afternoon, and revealed grand stone, gold being visible in every particle. He brought a sample of the quartz to town, and it has created a bit of a furore. Shares are actively asked for. The reef is reported to be 2ft thick.
Welcome. — The threatened thunderbolt has descended, and at a meeting last night the directors struck a call of 5s per share, which, I understand, is the full amount of the uncalled capital in the company. The event having been anticipated, it caused no commotion locally.
