SMALL BIRDS.
The annual poisoning by the road boards is going on, but it is to be regretted that ono or two of them hold aloof, and thus to a great extent neutralise the efforts of the others. The poison used here is strychnine on wheat. Irs only drawback is its bitterness, which makes a bird which tastes it without fatal c ffect avoid the bait for the future. I hear of a formula being patented which will eclipse all others for destructivtness.
