This vexed question seems to be in a fair way of being settled on the basis of the regulations agreed to at the Sydney conference. As the Legislative Council adopted the Hon. Mr Peters' resolution in that direction, and the strongest opposition was looked for from the "Lords," stock-breeders may hope soon to be in a position to replenish their strains from the first source. There is no doubt that if dairy farming goes ahead as it ought there will be a great demand for purebred stock, and several breeds which are now almost unrepresented in New Zealand will be in particular request.
