Mr Skene reports under date May 15 :— Winter work and ploughing have fairly begun, but it is stiff work getting men to accept the wsga •fferlng. A good many rabbiters are moving ofl (paid by results). The demand for dairy peoplt keeps steady, Although farm work is quiet there li a little more life in the building trade, as af« buildings, additions, and repairs are visible. Afts all the exodus, perhaps those who have Btayd behind may have the best of it in the long run.
