GRAIN AND SEED REPORT.

Messrs Samuel Obr and Co., Stafford street, report for the week ending March 7 as follows :—: —

Wheat.— The market for this continues quiet, there being still an indisposition on the part of millers to purchase beyond actual necessity. Samples of the new crop are coming to hand pretty freely, but sales are principally on a limited scale, and likely to be until the bulk comes to hand. Pricee are not yeb definitely fixed, but in the meantime we quote from actual sales : Prime milling, 3s 5d to 3s 6d ; ordinary, 3s 3d to 3a 4d ; fowls' feed, 23 6d to 2s lOd, bub cannot be relied upon, samples from the North coming down very freely. Oats —The new crop is in fair demand, principally for milling, but; only a limited supply hasyet come to hand. Owing to the absence of orders for shipment consequent upon unfavourable reports received from the other side, prices have not yet shownany improvement. We quote : Prime milling, la B|d to Is 9d, though for extra quality a little more might be pot ; bright feed, Is 8d to Is Bjd ; medium, Is ?d to Is 7Jd. Barley.— Only a limited supply offering yet with a good demand. Quotations, 3s 8d to 3s 9d for prime malting ; 3s 3d to 3s 6d for medium. Potatoes. — The market is overstocked, large supplies having come in from the North ; ruling prices, £2 7s 6d to £2 155.

Chaff .—Supplies of now cut coming forward freely within the last few days, the quality being very good. In fair demand at from £2 10s to £i I7e 6d. Grass Seed.— There is nothing new to report since

8t week. HyegMss: Supplies are now coming to dand, but the demand is slow indeed, und farmers' samples are difficult to place at from 2s to 2s 6d, according to quality. Cocksfoot : A little business doiug for autumn sowing, while for shipment there is also a spurt, and prices may be said to bo here 4jd tosd.
