Goldmining.

Several parties of miners are now at work on the black sand of the Waipapa beaches, and some of them aro doing very well. Various attempts have been made to improve upon tha usual system of gold-saving, and several patent machines have been tried, but with indifferent success. It is contemplated now to form a company for the purpose of working one of Wellman's patent dredges, but as tho beaches are exposed to the full force of the fierce storms that come sweeping over the Southern Ocean, there will be considerable difficulty in keeping the machine going during winter time.
