THE EUROPEAN SITUATION.
The iumours-of-war telegrams of the last two days point to the possibility of a diversion of the threatened Russian attack from Austria to Turkey— that is, from Galicia to Brzeroum. It would seem as it Germany had instigated this change of direction, as it is stated that the Czar has Vrince Bismarck at his back in demanding the deposition of Prince Ferdinand. # Some time ago we pointed out the possibility of. the Galician movement being a feint to cover an attack on Constantinople from Asia, which would probably be an easier way of netting there than through Bulgaria, but of fate it has looked as if Russia really moant business with Austria. Austria would probably feel herself as much bound in her own interests to assist Turkey as if the attack were made directly upon herself, but her task weald .become exceedingly difficult if the Ibrrnit iof the contest were carried to the Asian provinces of Turkey.
