FORBURY TRAINING NOTES.
A very disagreeable morning was that of the 9th. St. Clair was sent two miles at a fast rate on the outside of the course proper, attended by Haka and Mokoia alternately. Nightshade and Sweetlips went two miles steadily, and Trapper negotiated an additional circuit at a similar pace. Silvermark and Apropos cantered twice round, spurting home over the last half-mile, and Dunluce, Louis Philippe, and Mon Loup covered a like distance at; three-part speed. Snapshot cantered four times round, and St. Malo and Wolverine went four furlongs at top. First Lord and Little Nell were sent twice round steadily, and Shifnal and Captain Cook went a like distance similarly. Apres Moi, Gitana colt, and Garibaldi galloped a mile, as did also West colt, Chic, and Lady Constance. Later on Mispah went twice round at a useful rate.
Friday was a very stormy morning, but trainers were out at tbe usual hour. La Rose went twice round at three-part speed, and St. Clair and St. Ives were sent a good mile gallop. Snapshot cantered three times round, and Trapper and Sweetlips negotiated two miles at a fast rate, accompanied by Nightshade over the last circuit. Dunluce went a useful threemile gallop, and West colt and Chic cantered two miles, spurting home over the last three furlongs. Haka covered a similar distance, attended by Wolverine over the last mile ; and Little Nell compassed two miles at three-quarter pace. Silvermark, Apropos, and First Lord were sent four times round the turf gallop, covering a mile and four furlongs — with a circuit interim — at top; and Sommeil went a similar gallop, going a mile fast. Apres Moi went twice round at an easy pace, accompanied by Gitana colt over the last mile, the pair finishing fast ; and" Mon Loup and, Louis Philippe were given a steady two mile gallop. Dispute cantered two circuits, and Dodger and Shifnal were sent seven furlongs at top. Bine Nell fempi'-sed a mile and fhree-quarfiw ?t
three-part speedy and Garibaldi- went a mile at a like pace after cantering once round. Tetford cantered three times round, and he appears to be a powerful horse, in good condition.
Another stormy morning was that of Saturday, but some interesting work was got through nevertheless. Haka and Wolverine raced six furlongs, and La Rose went once round at threepart speed. Apres Moi and Gitana colt were sent a mile at a good rate, and Captain Cook and St. Clair compassed a mile and a-half at top. Garibaldi went two miles, finishing fast ; and Tetford cantered three circuits on the turf gallop. Little Nell negotiated a mile and a-half at a useful pace, and Apropos travelled twice round similarly. West colt and Chic galloped five furlongs ; and Lady Constance and Dispute covered a mile, spurting home over the last si* furlongs. Dumbell was given a good mile and three-quarter gallop, and Silvermark went a mile at top. Shifnal went three times round steadily, as did also Cinderella.
Monday was a pleasant morning, and trainers were out betimes. Adulation went twice round steadily, and Haka and St. Clair covered a similar distance at a slightly better pace. Artillery compassed three circuits at a useful rate, and Trapper, Sweatlips, and Nightshade were sent a mile and three-quarters at top. Tetford went twice round at three-part speed, and Silvermark and Apropos were given a rasping mile gallop. Manton negotiated a mile and three-quarters, going the last seven furlougs steadily, and Cinderella covered the same ground similarly. St. Ives went a mile aud three-quarters at three-quarter pace; as did also Secretary. West col*;, Captain Cook, and Chic went twice round sharply, and Wolverine and Dispute cantered two circuits. Sweetbriar was given a good mile and threequarter gallop, and Shifnal and Sommeil raced five furlongs. Dunluce cantered a mile, and afterwards went a strong gallop over the same distance in company with Mon Loup. Lady Constance cantered a mile and three-quarters.
Tuesday was a capital morning for training purposes, but the work done was hardly up to the usual standard from a spectacular point of view. The Dodger galloped once round at a fast rate, as did also Garibaldi after cautering a mile. Haka and St. Clair were given a strong gallop over three circuits, and Trapper, Sweetlips, and Nightshade went a mile and threequarters steadily. Snapshot was sent three times round at an easy rate, as was also Dunluce, and Mon Loup galloped two miles. La Rose was given a serviceable gallop twice round, and St. Ives covered a similar distance at half pace. Little Neil cantered two miles, and Shifnal and First Lord negotiated seven furlongs at a useful rate. Lady Constance went twice round steadily, and Apres Moi and Dispute covered a mile at top.
