GRAIN AND SEED REPORT.
Messr3 Samuel Oeb and Co., Stafford street report for the week ending February 15 as follows :—: — Wheat. — As reported last week, the market for this cereal is almost at a standstill, buyers being indisposed to purohase until the new crop comes on the market, when more business is likely to take place. Prices remain unaltered, viz. :— Prime milling velvet or Tuscan, 3s 9d to 3s lOd ; ordinary, 3s 6d to 3s 8d ; medium, 3s 3d to 3s sd ; inferior and fowlß' feed, 2s 6d to 3s. Oats. — The demand for these just now is rather limited, inquiries for shipment being few. Harvesting is now pretty general both north and south, and the new crop should be on the market almost immediately. We quote: Prime milling. Is B*d; good heavy bright feed, Is 7§d to Is 8d ; ordinary, la 6£d to Is 7§d ; inferior, Is 5d to Is 6d. Barley. — Nothing doing, pending samples of the new crop coming to hand. Grass Seed.— No improvement in the demand to report.
Potatoes .—Consignments are coming forward more freely this week, with fair demand at from £2 10s to £3.
Chaff.— A fair demand existß, with little coming forward. Prices: For good, well-cufc oaten eheaf, £2 10s to £2 155 ; medium, £2 to £2 ss.
