THE PROPERTY TAX.

The amount of property tax ieceived at the Chief Post Office, Dunediu, on Tuesday was £12,725 15s 4d ; and the amount paid for the whole postal district of Dunedin for the period from the Ist of January of the present year up to 5 p.m. on Tuesday was £47,141 19s lOd.

The total payments for the colony up to Tuesday night, including advices from post offices, amount to £350,000.' Remittances in the course of post have yet to be received. The amount outstanding for the whole colony is £25,000. At the Wellington office the total amount received as yet is £100,000.

The total amount of property tax collected at the post offices in Hawke's Bay from January 1 to 5 o'clock on Tuesday night was £16,791 10s lOd.

The property tax collected at Auckland was £68,988 15s, of which £10,000 was received on Monday and £22,000 on Tuesday.
