Milk at 2d per Gallon.
EDITOR WITNESS, Sir,— Yotif correspondent in asking whether dairying can be made to pay with milk at 2d per gallon evidently forgets that circuinstancoß alter eases.- Many, I daresay, who have paid fabulous prices for land and keep inferior milking cows will havo difficulty in carrying out Mr Potter's laudable desire to pay 20s in the pound, while others of a thrifty and industrious turn of mind -will have something over after satisfying the wants of creditors. This, however, is altogether foreign to the snlrjecG of my first letter. My contentions is that factories will be unable to pay 20s in tho pound to their creditors if they continue to 3dforan article worth to them not more tban 2d. Why, therefore, should the factory suffer in order that the creditors of Mr So-and-so be paid 20s in the pound. I leave Mr Potter to form his own conclusions— Yours, &c, Old Stilton. Dunedin, November 23.
