FitzAdam, in the centre, made play trom ArrauJale and the Hazledean colt, next to whom laid Toscano, Hanover, Caliban, Pull Together, the Pomona colt, and Fair Haven, of whom the latter had delayed the start by running the course half through by himself. In the first three furlongs Hazlebatch singled himself out from FitzAdara and Hanover, and although Pull Together joined the last-mentioned pair inside the distance, Hazlebatch easily held his own, and won hands down by a length and a-half ; FitzAdam securing second money from Pull Together by a neck. Admiral Benbow jumped off in front from The Mummer, Mayo, and the Celandine filly, with Rada, Glint, and Assiduity well up on the right, A Life's Mistake, The Slogger, and Volcano in the centre, and Sainfoin clear of Sandal aud The Shrew on fcho left. Of the others the favourite was soon harmless, while Delaware, who did not get otf toiled on in the rear. After leading for a qtarter of a mile or more Admiral Benbow resigned to Kada, who then came on from Mayo, Assiduity, Glint, A Life's Mistake, the Celandiue filly, The Slogger, and Sainfoin, these being iv front of Sandal aud The Shrew. As they entered the rails the Celandine filly dropped back, and froi» the distance Rada and Sandal on the two extremes were leading from The Slogger and Assiduity, with The Shrew, struggling under her weight, in company of Glint, Mayo, and A Lite's Mistake. For the Hast hundred yards the finish was of an exciting character, and Sandal managed to just win from Rada by a nftck, with The Slogger two lengths off third. AW4uity close up fourth.
