THE TIMARU SHOW.
Tho Timaru Agricultural ami Pastoral Association opened its twenty-second annual show on tho grounds on Tuesday. The first day* proceedings were confined to judging sbeep, getting tbe implements and other Now Zealand manufactures in position, and generally putting things in order for tbo second day, Wednesday. Through some oversight our correspondent's report is not to hand, and we are indebted to the correspondent of tbe Christchurch Press for the following particulars of tbe first day :— Without attempting anything like a detailed report, it might be mentioned that tbe sheep show is a very creditable one indeed, particularly so with respect to the merino classes. There is also a food show of English and Border Leicester^, but there is practically no competition in Lincoln.", Messrs Bruce and M'Laren and Mr Max Friedlander being the only exhibitors in this class. The few Lincolns shown, however, are a vory line lot, and have been deservedly awarded first prizes. Mr Max Friedlander has also some very fine Hampshire Downs. There is only a limitt-d number of crossbreds and fat sheep. Returning to the merinos, ifc is not too much to say that the show is a remarkably good one, especially considering the hard winter the sbeep have just been through. Mr R. H. Rhodes and Mr Elworthy are pxhibiting largely, and have both been successful in taking a liberal share of the prizes, the Land Company coining next. In longwools, Messrs Little Bros., of Ngapara, Oamaru, are the largest prizetakers. In implements, Messrs Reid and Gray, Booth and M'Donald , P. and D. Duncan, Mason, Struthers and Co., and Moody and Zie^ler are the principal exhibitors, but there are a number of other exhibits, which help to make up a very attractive show of farm requisites.
