THE STREET COSTUMES.

For many years past we have not had such pretty styles as those at present in vogue. The plain tailor-made bodices are very becoming to good figures, and the graceful outline of the skirt is a vast improrement on the frillings and puffs that give the figure such a bunched-up appearance.

The short tailor-made jackets are also very stylish, and are procurable in light tweeds at from 12s (id upwards. They are a very serviceable addition to any lady's wardrobe, as they can be worn with almost any coloured dress. In our changeable climate it is as well to have a light jacket, for many days are too chilly to wear a print or light dress without some covering, yet not cold enough for the wearer to be comfortable in a winter iacket.

Prints will be much worn again this seasonj They are very varied and stylish, and as chaste and delicate in effect as coloured silks. Many inexpensive summer tweeds are procurable, and will wear a season well.

Black is still fashionable on every and any occasion, but it is not so generally worn as it was a few years ago ; neither do we sec maroon nearly so often as brown.

Several of the prettiest costumes I have seen have been of a beautiful golden brown, but brown does not suit all persons, and should be chosen with cara, as it has the effect of making some look old.

The shops are teeming with new and pretty things, and I warn the ladies not to visit thorn unless they have money to spend, for they cannot help wishing to possess some of the novelties.
