Melbourne, October 19. Messrs Goldsbrough and Co. (Limited) held their usual weekly sale of wool to-day, when 6000 bales were catalogued. There was a I large attendance, inoluding several English 1 and foreign buyers. The various lots offered elicited excellent competition, especially good combing and superior lambs wool, in all 4500 bales finding purchasers. The prices realised were generally good. Greasy wool brought as much as 9£d per lb, pieces 7£d< and lambs wool lid. Sydney, Octobe 19. Sir H. Parkes has resigned his seat in the Assembly as member for St. Leonards, bat proceeds to seek re-election for that constituency, for which he will probably be returned unopposed. Sir Henry will retain his position as head of the Government pending the result of the election. Brisbane, October 19. The bill appropriating a sum of £15,000, the proportion of the cost of governing New Guinea due by this colony, was passed in Committee of Supply, of the Legislative Assembly to-day. Adelaide, October 19. The strike of wharf hands has terminated, the union men having returned to work.
