WAIKOIKOI.
October 17.— 0f our two chief wants— a more frequent mail service and telephonic com- | munication,— one is about to be supplied. A tri-weekly mail service has' been arranged for, and i trust we shall not have loflg to wait for a telephonic connecting \iak with the outside world. The district is" thickly populated,- a fact which fully justifies the c'r^ for this convenience. The Rabbits.— The war against bunny is being carried on satisfactorily, the farmers having learnt by bitter experience the disastrous results of relaxing operations after the winter poisoniug. One and all are makiug every effort to keep the pest in hand, every known means being employed to accomplish $he end in view. The Weather. — We have had nomet very severe weather during the week, putting a stop to sowing and harrowing. This is unfortunate as there is a considerable area to sow yet. Stock generally and the lambing in particular have suffered to a considerable extent. Early lambs this season have had the advantage, as they were favoured with sunshiny weather.
