The School Commissioners o£ Otago held their ordinary monthly meeting ofl Tuesday Ft£seat—Meßßrs J. P. Maitland (in the cliafeyWi H. Pearson^ and J. Green, Applications from various quarters for reduction of rents were declined on the ground that the commissioner^ had no power to accede to theio* The Chief Surveyor ieported as to run 194, Waikaia, making a recommendation as to its ! future disposal.— lt was decided to survey 5000 acres into sections of from 200 to 350 acres each, tte balance of the run being offered for five years' leaee, and provision being_ made for the releasing of any part of it on six mentha notice if required for settlement. Consideration of an application from th& Southland County Council for payment of shares of perpetual lease rents in instalmentswas adjourned until tifat meeting. Messrs G. A. and P. l&ein applied for a grazing right over sections 11, I^, »» d !3, Mock x, Wyndhairi, until these are required for of'Cupai tion.— Granted during the pleasure of the r-om-missioners. . A letter was received from Mr W. Y. H. Hall r solicitor, Invercargill, applying on behalf of a , client' for an extended lease of part of run , 301b, Te Anau, for the purpose of erecting an hotel for the accommodation of tourists. — It was decided to ask Mr Hall to- forward a sketch of the area suggested, and thst the application should be granted if arrangements can be made I for the surrendering ©1 the lease. j It was resolved to foreclose the lease of the coal pit on run 193, Wendori, and re-offer it for a new lease. Accounts amounting to £82 0s 8d were passed for payment;.
