Otago Cricketers Association.

A meeting of, the Otago Cricketers' Association was held at Wain's HoteJ on. Saturday night. Dr Cough^rey presided, and. there was a. large attendance. The following letter from Mr M. Cohen to the chairman was read ; — I have to ask that yp,u will be good enough, to intimate at to-night's meeting that t^e course ojf action I tocfy lasf; Saturday evening w,as based on a misapprehension of the scope of the amended rules. I bad understood (and my argument wai based on that understanding) that it was not intended to interfere with the right of subscribing members to vote, as they have done in the past, at the; annual election of office-bearers, but that they ihould no longer practically enjoy the privilege of dlctatiug the lines on which the association's business shall be conducted. I was in sympathy with the proposal that threw the latter duty entirely ou the delegates, but am not with the proposal to transfer every privilege to the latter. I am afraid that the association will suffer financially under the altered constitution, and the eld grievance will be revived and intensified. I, however, recognise that the men who pay cricket are the best able to judge of the wisdom of the step now taken, and I sincerely hope that the anticipations of the promoters will be realised and the association be constituted on a lasting basis. The Chaibman moved—" That the bye-laws as agreed upon last Saturday evening be now confirmed." After some discussion the motion was carried, an amendment having previously been proposed to the effect that the new constitution 'of the association be struck out entirely.
