THIRTEEN LIVES LOST.
(Reuteji's Telegrams.) London, August 19. News has been received that the Inman Line steamship City of Montreal has been burnt at sea. The crew and passengs?Sy with the exception of 13 who were lost,, have; been landed at Queenstown. Later, Further details of the loss of the City of Montreal, state that she was burnt on the 11th mat. One of the boats, conveying seven passengers and six of the crew, was swamped, the occupants being drowned. (Special to Pbess Association.) London, August 20. Sevoral firea occurred simultaneously among the cargo of cotton stowed in the hold of the City of Montreal when the vessel was 400 miles from Newfoundland. There was; no sign of panic, and both the crew and passengers worked nobly tor hours in blindingsmoke, but at daybreak they were compelled to take to the boats, and in the hurry to do scv 19 of the passengers were nearly left behind. A passing barque rescued all those on board with the exception of tho occupants of one boat. August 21. The Rev. Mr M'Donald, of Adelaide, is amongst the survivors from the City of: Montreal.
