Tomboy has been scratched for the Melbourne Cup. The Melbourne Sportsman states it is rumoured that Mr W. C. Cooper, owner pf Trenton, Niagara, and other well-known horses, is about to dispose of his stud." At a meeting of the Greymouth Jockey Club it was resolved to endorse the disqualification of Mr Bradley and Mr Card by the Hokitika (Westland) Club from running their horses for two years. ' . Forty-six entries have been received for the Plumpton Park coursing meeting at Auckland, which takes place on the 27th-inst. There is nothing definite known of Mr W. C. Cooper's movements. A rumour which appears to have good foundation says that he is certain to go to England, and that the whole of his horses will be sold about next Easter. Betting during the week (says a Sydney paper) has not been over brisk over forthcoming events. For the Hawkesbury Handicap, Tho Queen has met with some support, and now heads the list for that event, for which Volcano has also many admirers. Trident has been supported for the Metropolitan to win a few thousands, but betting over this event is very limited, as also over'the Caulfield Cup.
