GRAIN REPORT.

Messrs Samuel Obr and Co., Stafford street, report for the week ending July 6 as ' follows :— Wheat. — There is practically no animation now in the wheat market, millerß not caring to buy large lines on the basis of late quotations, which, however, are still maintained. Arrivals are now comparatively nothing, while stocks are low. Fowls' feed is scarce, and commanding as much as 3s Bd. We quote prime milling up to 4s Id ; medium to good, 3s 6d to 4s ; fowls' feed, 3s 3d to 3s Bd. Oats. — We cannot report any improvement whatever in the oat market, the low prices ruling in our intercolonial markets precluding any business being done of any magnittide at late rates. Whether prices will go up or otherwise entirely depends upon these markets, and it will take a little time yet to determine which way it will go, as stocks are heavy in both Melbourne and Sydney. Arrivals are small, and what is being sold goes from store. We have inquiries for bright long Tartars and heavy Canadians, and quote for these Is 9d, at which we sold JM (Tapanui), WM (Waiwera), and WB (Waiwera). We quote prime heavy milling and bright feed Is B|d to Is 9d ; ordinary, Is 7£d to Is B£d ; inferior and discoloured, Is 5d to Is 7d. Barley.— A few small lots could yet be placed at late quotations in both malting, milling, and feed ; prices respectively being 4s Id, 3s Bd, and 2s 10d to 3s -Id. I Grass Seed. — Nothing doing in rye grass. Cocks- I foot is, however, largely inquired for, and as mentioned by us some time ago is steadily advancing, as much as 4£d being asked for seed North, or equal to 4|d here. Chaff. — Arrivals not nearly so large, consequently prices are better. Oaten sheaf, if well cut, good colour, and screened being worth £2 17s 6d : ordinary £2 5s to £2 10s. Cow chaff, £2.
