Draughts at Mataura.

A meeting of those favourable to the formation of a Cheaß and Draughts Club was held in the Oddfellows Hall, Mataura, on Friday evening last." There was a, good attendance, and considerable enthusiasm was manifested. The following officers were elected : —President, Mr Macandrewj vice-president, Mr Hinning; secretary and treasurer, Mr P. ,A. Connor. It was resolved to meet in the Oddfellows Hall every Friday for practice. The entrance fee was fixed at 3s. During the evening a few boards were forthcoming, and most of the members present had a taste of the much-loved dam drod. — J. C. M.
