The running was made by Baron de Rothschild's pair, who were followed by Tenebreuse, Olla Podrida, Courbature, and Cherie, with Belinda and .Bavarde lying off. .No material change in this order occurred until a, furlong from the finish,' when Speranpa and, Simone II were done with, and Tenebreuse at' once took the lead, 'and with Belinda and Bavarde simultaneously coming through their horses, the issue was confined to the trio. Tenebreuse,, however, always went too fast for the other pair, and paseed the post a couple of lengths in advance of Belinda ; Bavarde' was a length, 'behind the, latter; Hervine finished fourth,' and Speranza headed the beaten lot. They ran' thus for six furlongs, when Monarque retired, and closer order was taken by the others, of whom Le Sancy was the first to show in front, closely pressed by Brio and Frapotel. An interesting contest then ensued between the three, and Le Sancy looked like securing the judge's verdibt until Watts brought Brio with a well-timed rush and won cleverly on the post by a' neck ; Frapotel was beaten a length for second place. Time, lmin 46 3-sth sec. - Value of the stakes, £2201.
