MACRAES.
June 6.—A very successful concert and ball was held in the schoolhouse on the 6th ult. in aid of the cemetery funds. The entertainment resulted in about £11 being added to the funds. Transferred.—General regret is expressed at the removal of Constable Kennedy to St. Bathans. However, as the constable has full charge of his new station, the change is one which is of benefit to him if not to us. Threshing.—Tha final act of harvesting operations is now c6mpleted in this and the adjoining district of Moonlight. Lecture.—A lecture was delivered in the schoolhouse on the 20th ult. by the Rev. Mr Lindsay on " How to get on in the world." The lecture was well received, and the customary votes of thanks were passed at its termination. Jubilee.—A public dinner, concert, and ball is to be held in honour of the Queen's jubilee. Money Order Office.—An endearour is being made to induce the postal authorities to establish a branch of the money order office in connection with the local post office.
