Melboubne, June 9. The Legislative Council last night adopted a jubilee address to the Queen, the members singing the National Anthem. June 11. Details from Perth r6 the disaster to the pearling fleet show that 20 luggers were wrecked and 120 lives lost. Private telegrams from Foochow report that the quality of this season's tea is inferior to that of Jast season. Moderate business is being done in the Australian colonies. June 14. The manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand reports as follows of the local market: — Wheat, 3s lid to 4s (depressed) ; barley, 4s 9d to 5s 6d (quieter, but steady) ; oats, feed sorts, 2s 9d to 2s lid (prices barely maintained) ; oats, milling sorts, 2s lid to 3s (rather weaker) ; New Zealand oats, under bond, 2s to 2s 2d (weaker). Sydney, June 9. In the Legislative Assembly last night the motion of Mr M'Millan, affirming that the rents assessed by the local land boards should not be subject to increase was negatived. A German squadron, consisting of the warships Bismarck, Carolga, Olga, and Sopie, arrived in harbour this evening from Cape Town. The captain of the Olga died suddenly while the vessel was entering the heads. June 10. A meeting which had been called by the mayor for the purpose of discussing the question of celebrating the Queen's jubilee was completely broken up to-night owing to opposition, which was chiefly caused by* small sections of secularists who had gained admittance by forged tickets. The police, who were called in, were compelled to clear the room, which was done amidst the greatest disorder. A large crowd which assembled outside the building was addressed by the persons who caused the disturbance. It is announced that a monster meeting in connection wjth the jixbilee celebration will be held on Tuesday next. June 11. A German letter from Samoa, dated May 28, states that war is imminent, Tamosa having decided to again attempt the deposition of Malietoa. The letter further says that the Germans support the pretensions of Tamosa. Archbishop Carr arrived this afternoon, and was enthusiastically received. A procession of Roman Catholic clergy and laymen escorted him to St. Patrick's Cathedral, where he was formally installed. A declaration of loyalty to the Throne, laws, and institutions was adopted at a Jubilee meeting last night, being extensively signed, as a protest against the disgraceful proceedings at the meeting held yesterday. New Zealand wheat is quoted at 3s 3d to 3s 9d ; New Zealand oats, Is 9d to 2s 3d ; maize is selling at 3s 3d ; potatoes, at 50s. June 12. A deputation of clergymen waited on Sir Henry Parkes yesterday, and requested him to stop Sunday amusements. In consequence, orders were given last night that the theatres must be closed to-night. Great excitement was caused thereby, and a largely attended open-air meeting was held to protest against the action of the authorities in closing places of amusement. It is understood the Premier is liaking, this action under the act for the regulation of places of amusement, which empowers him to close such places if written permission has not been granted them. June 13. Sir H. Parkes' action in prohibiting the use of the theatre on Sundays has caused considerable excitement here. The secularists declare that they will fight the matter to the bitter end. Adelaide, June 11. Wheat is quoted at 4s 2d to 4s 3d ; town flour, £9 15s to £10 ; country brands, £8 10s to £8 15s.
