FORESTERS' BALL AT ALEXANDRA SOUTH.

I am indebted to a lady correspondent for the following interesting account of a successful social event which took place at Alexandra a week or two back: —

A Forresters' ball was held in the Town Hall, Alexandra, on the evening of the 24th ult., about 30 couples being present. The hall was beautifully decorated whith evergreens for the occasion. After the first part of the programme was got through an adjournment was made to the library hall for the purpose of partaking of refreshments. The programme, which contained 24 dances, started shortly after nine. The music of the Alexandra Brass Band was exceedingly well rendered, and tended greatly to the evening's enjoyment. The following is a list of the most noticeable dresses : —

Miss Mary Koy : cream, softly draped with cardinal satin, pretty fan to match. Miss Colgan : skirt of blue nun's veiling, blue brocaded satin bodice, trimmed with cream lace and pearls, which looked very nice. Miss Ryan was charmingly attired in cream nun's veiling, prettily' draped with amber satin and lace, and wore a cream and amber aigrette in hair. Miss M'Ginnis looked very pretty in cream and pale blue, trimmed with lace and looped up with flowers. Miss Lucy Eyan looked sweetly pretty in a delicate shade of pink, caught up with pink satin bows and pompoms, and draped with cream lace, aigrette to match, white fan.

Miss Allan was very prettily attired in white.

Miss Bertha Field wore an exquisite pale blue costume, trimmed with coffee lace.

Miss Nellie Thomson wore a charming evening gown of black grenadine dotted all over with pale blue satin bows, pale blue gloves, lovely pearl necklet.

Miss Eva Dawson was attired in a handsome black velvet evening dress trimmed with white lace and pearls, black and gold fan to match. Miss Annie Terry wore a nice brown dress draped with velvet and pendants.
