Invbrcabgill, June 4. The Star played the Second Fifteen of the Pirates to-day, winning, after having considerably the best of the game, by 1 try to nil. • R. Donaldson gained the try, his play throughout as three quarter being very good. Cuff made some splendid runs, as also did De Joux and Timbs. The ' Star's forwards, notably Jenkins,' Asprey, Murphy, and Graham, played, well., Wesney, as full back for the Pirates, saved his .goal repeatedly. Harvey was the best of their three quarters, and Taylor, Brown, and Daltori of the forwards. ; The Pirates First, minus Galbraith, M'Robie; and Smith, essayed to play' some 17 or 18 All--comers, but failed in the effort, suffering defeat by 1 try to nil. Strode gained the try.
