DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKET.
J. H Kllgoub, grain and produce broker, reports under date June 1 as follows : —
Wheat.— There is still a fair amount of business doing, but it is confined to the requirements of local millers, prices having gone beyond shipping limit. I quote prime milling at 3s lOd to 4s; medium, 3s 8d to 3s 9d; fowl feed is in demand and scarce at* 3s to 3s 3d.
Oats.— There is no alteration to report, supplies being quite equal to the demand. I quote prime milling at Is 7£d ; bright short feed, of shipping quality, Is 7d ; sparrowbills, Is 6d; Danish, Is 6d; long Tartarians, fit for seed, Is lOd ; discoloured and ordinary feed, for local wants, Is 4d to Is od
Barley.— There is good inquiry for milling lots up to .48 Id ; milling, 3s ; feed, 2s 6d. Chaff .—There is at present an oversupply in the market, and the best price that can be quoted is £2 10s ; inferior^and ordinary, 37s 6d to 455. Potatoes —Supplies of Derwents are very full and' prices very irregular, say from 35stoJ40s ;' kidneys are now wanted for seed. I have inquiries for Scottish champions and early rose. Butter. — Fresh, in mixed cases, 8d; salt, in kegs, 7id. Eggs.— ls lOd per dozen. Sales slow.
