The following notice of the picture appeared In • reoent issue of the Otago Daily Times:—" One of the most appropriate pictures that could be designed to commemorate the jubilee year of the reign It to be teen in the window of Messrs 0. Eegg and Co.'i premises, Princes street. It Is a large medallion portrait of her Majesty, perfect as regards resemblance, and characterised by a finish and smoothnets of tone that render it one of the best specimen! of coloured lithography we have seen here. The portrait occupies the centre of the canvas, but tho de«ignaUo Includes a quartettof smaller piotnres, one in each corner, representative of the four most momentous events of the reign. The vitws in the two upper comers depict her Majesty's coronation at Westminster on 38th June 1838 and her marriage on 10th February 1840. Below is a view of the mausoleum »t Frogmore containing the remains of Prince Albert and bearing the date of his death, 14th December 1861; and to the right of this is the fourth pioture of the series, showing the reading of the proclamation declaring her Majesty Bmprois of India on 7th January 1877. This ceremony, t will be seen, was performed in the presence of Lord Lytton, the then viceroy, with far more pomp than marked the very formal proceedings on the steps of the Royal Exchange, London. Besides these historical pictures, there are in the margin the arras ot the three kingdoms and the emblematical rose, shamrock, and thistle, and the whole is surrounded by a very pretty border, quiet and tasteful in design and colour like the rest of the work. The central portrait li executed on a chocolate ground, which thowi up tho brighter ooloun very effectively. The Queen is la ttate dress — or rather the semi-state costume lv which she hat been accustomed to appear on important publio occasions since her widowhood. She wears a veil and diadem and the blue ribbon and Order of the Garter. The pioture cannot fail to attract attention, both on account of its subjoct and the excellent work of the artist and lithographer." OT Orders now being received by W. J.
