Melbourne, April 9. As a fully-laden coach was leaving Laroit yesterday one of the horses became fractious and upget the coach. Nearly 20 persons were injured, some of them very seriously. April 10. The Shannon arrived in Melbourne last night. Among her passengers is Admiral Fairfax, who succeeds Admiral Tryon as chief in command of the Australian naval squadron. During his stay in Melbourne he will be the guest of Sir Henry Loch. April 12. The Rev. Dr Goe, Anglican Bishop of Melbourne, arrived this morning, and was welcomed by a large assembly of Melbourne citizens. His installation will take place on Thursday next. Sydney, April 7. The Government has instructed the New South Wales delegates to the Imperial Conference to act with the other Australian delegates if possible on questions relating to New Guinea and the New Hebrides, or deportation of criminals to the Pacific. April 0. Easter volunteer encampments are being held here and at other places in the colony. April 12. At Clibborn's sale of thoroughbred yearlings to-day, a brother to The Broker was sold for 500gs, and a sister to Cairo for 300gs, Mr Gannon being the purchaser in both cases. A colt by {Grandmaster out of Baroness realised 315gs, and a colt by Maribyrnong out of Gipsy Girl fetched 221gs. Hobart, April 9. The schooner Gold, from Melbourne, sprang a leak during a gale in Bass Strait last Sunday, and, being in a sinking state, the crew took to the boats, reaching Goose Island in safety.
