At Skippers the Phoenix mine, which has had some trouble with its electric apparatus, is now nearly ready for another start. Prospecting in tile Phcenix Extended is progressing well. In the Gallant Tip, Upper Shotover, the stone eontiuiies to show well as the mine is being opened .out.' - • - The -.Preaijer Company, at Macetown, are raising stone in goodly quantities, and are waiting for .more rain to start crushing. The Tipperary Company, at the same • place, have been crashing now for some time, and may shortly wash up. The Invincible, it is said, is meeting with fair prof pools in their lower workings.

The AJBC Quartz Mining" Company, Waipori, sent their third cake of gold to Dunecliu this week, -which weighed about-20 ounces. -ThJs-has been got from the same number of tons of «.tone withiu the last two months. The manager (Mr A. Sturm)' reports the mine to be opening up mout, satisfactorily, the reef being clearly defined arid producing upwards of one ounce of gold to ihe ton. He calculates upou having a much better return from the, next crashing, .which- will take place in a few weeks.'
