PORTOBELLO.
February 8. — The 'second com petition of the' Porrobello Rifle Club came off on Saturday last, the sth inst , under rather ■ adverse circumstances. At the beginning of the shooting a stiff gale was blowing from the north-east, which about mid-day changed to north-west, and blew with terrific violence throughout the day. This will account for the very poor scores. Twentysix members of tbe club turned out, and the following is the result. The ranges were 200; 300, and 600 yards, five shots at each range :— First Squad. Second Squad. ■ ' Points . I'oints 11. Gained. 11. The severe storm we had on Saturday has done considerable damage to every description of produce. The fruit crop is, lam afraid, totally destroyed.
