Despatches of January report fearful snowstorms.at Florence, Venice, Genoa, and in the whole of the Piedmont, interrupting railway and telegraphic communication. Matilda Maria (18) and Miss Romaba (16), Polish art students in Rome, were found suffocated in bed in a hotel in tbat city on January 9. On the floor of the room lay the body of a man. Letters showed that all three had committed suicide. " A despatch of -January 9 says negotiations between the Vatican and Prussia will shortly be concluded which' will enable Emperor William to announce in the Landstag a revision of the May laws.
