January 9.

The second day of the Lake County Jockey Club's meeting turned . out as an enjoyable affair aa that of yesterday, and there can be no doubt that if the meeting had been advertised earlier, and attention been drawn to the special trains running for,- the occasion, the muster would have been much larger. It is to hoped that this will be remedied next year. The many local amnsements arranged for at Christmastime in every centre of population in this district militated against the races to some extent, yet with special trains and judiciously advertised the Lake County Jockey Club meet might be made the moat enjoyable and best attended of all up country races, and as the club includes the ' most energetic and most public spirited men in this district they may be trusted with making every effort to arrange matters, so that perfect success will ensue upon the next occasion.
