1 Ahrow, January 1: With the New Year several important cW; are about to be made in many of the local me which, however, require time to take ehapai form, and are at present scarcely fit; subject either comment or report. ' 1 ' , Mr Fred Evans, of tbe Phoenix mine, re^ a fresh discovery of rich stone made on tx ning work for the New Year, in the lowest w ing level driven from the shaft. The stone course, is a continuation of that^ worked in upper levels, but as the underlie of the t vary .a good deal it cannot with certaint; determined as yet to which of the four reefs the claim the new discovery belongs. \ Messrs Davis Bros, at ■ Stony Creek, | putting the finishing touches to their extent mining works , (sluicing) aod expect 1 to be in full operation. - Marking out cli! at Skipper's Point, and on the ten| down stream from the Point, has beet favourite amusement here among all classeg the community, what will come of it remaiiJ be seen. ■ |
