WAKATIPU MINING NOTES.

Arhow, December 28.

The holidays,, as they generally do, interfere much with mioirg as well as with other pursuits ; work in nearly all the mines being suspended for the weeVj and in many of them will not be resumed uutil after the district races, which are fixed for the 7th and Bth January next, so that there is no news of importance to send. In the meantime the Christmas cakes grouped together are as follow: — Premier, Macetown, 2640z 15dwt retorted gold ; Phoenix, Skippers, 368«z of smelted gold for a fortnight's crushing ; Invincible, Head of the Lake, 120oz of retorted gold for a fortnight's crushing. Several handsome parcels have been contributed by alluvial miners, but none of any exciting or sensational amount.

The Tipperary Company, Macetown, are crushing throughout the holidays preparatory for an early cake.
