BANK NOTES.

Water 61 ,Leith.— Several fairish baskets havo been made during the week. Mr Bamfield Beer.red six very nice fish in the upper reaches. A large number 'of anglers generally fish this stream during the holidays, so that I may be able to give'a bettor account of its capabilities next week.

Kaihiku. — I hear that this stream is just full offish and that some Balclutha anglers have made capital baskets lately. Pomahaka.— This stream still continues in a muidy state on account of the snow melting at its source. I -would not advise anglers to visit it for a few weeks yet. Waipahi.— Very few good baskets have beeu kmade on this stream of late (if we except the Baskets made at the Otago Anglers Association The fish for the last week have the feed," and would not look at however temptingly placed before Hn. The baskets that Messrs Wilson, HTrleton and Chisholm made at the competition mere a surprise to many, the weather being ■anything but good for successful angling. It w shows conclusively that, given the water in good f order, and tHe fish on the " take," what splendid sport this river is capable of affording to the skilful angler. Mr Carlton's two fish were perfect pictures, one weighing 91b 4oz, and the other Slbiaoz. . r The Otaria.— MrGeorgeMunro had a splendid day's 'fishing on this stream a few days ago, killing 331b of trout in one day. This stream is now visited almost every day by parties of anglers, and in consequence the fish are not quite so plentiful as they were last season.
