THE WAUKARINGA GOLDFITLD. DISCOVERY OF A 30oz NUGGET.

The correspondent of the South Australian Register at Teetulpa, writing on November 1, Fays : — " When writing to you last night I mentioned that certain rumours were in circulation respecting heavy-weight nuggets, but that I had not been able to prova any of them. To-night, however, I am glad to state, on the authority of the warden, Inspectorßesley, and one of the partners of the lucky finder, that a nuggget of solid gold weighing 30oz has been unearthed. As evidence to show how secret some of these finds are kept, I may say that this nugget was fossicked out on October 22, and there can be no doubt that a great deal more gold has been obtained on this field than is generally known. This particular nugget has been sent to town. In size it is as big as the palm of the hand. One edge is about liin thick, and it shelves off to a lesser thickness. This is the largest nugget yet found at Teetulpa, but there i 3 reason to suppose that others may yet be fouud to eclipse it. There can be no doubt that the upper part of Brady's gully promises to he rich in gold. Small quantities have been dryfossicked in many claims, and two men, Hennossy and 'Forthy have obtained over an ounce

each, and Kelly about the pame. Parsons, Shields, and Flaherty got a 2oz nugget and some smaller ones also, and from five bags of washdirt Joz was taken. This addition to tho field extends tbe area of payable gold to a distance of quite a mile and a-lulf. The men are working steadily and systematically, and claims that bad once been worked by novices during tbe firbt mad rut-h and then abandoned are now being maiie to yield their treasure." The warden of the goltifield has telegraphed confirming the news of the finding of the 30oz nugget, which was found by Mr Vincent Hornett, of Gladstone, and has been named '• The Joker."
