Fat Cattle. — The Mutual Agency Company report having sold 150 head store bullocks at satisfactory prices.

Wool. — Recent cablegrams from London indicate a softening in values, and a natural reaction from the almost unprecedented^ sudden and important advance has evidently set in. We trust that this depression will not be intensified, as the clip is now at hand, and we earnestly recommend squatters and farmers to avail themselves of the present comparatively high prices by realising at the earliest possible moment. Many woolgrowersin former years have had bitter reason to regret not accepting current rates, the ultimate returns from London showing a poor result as compared with what they might have got. Locally, excepting a few fellmongers' lots of sliped and scoured wool, nothing has yet been done in the new clip, but we anticipate arrivals somewhat earlier than formerly, owing to the open season.

Rabbitskins. — Owing to the unsatisfactory accounts from London and elsewhere, the market appears to have become very unsteady, and prices are nominal. We cannot quote beyond Is per lb for best winter skins, which are very scarce, being out of season. The bulk of the 6kins arriving now are latter-flayed or springkilling, and these are ruling at very low prices. All descriptions of inferior parcels, inoluding summer, hawk-torn, and suckers, are almost unsaleable. Very few lots were offered at the sales held on Tuesday last. The highest price bid was lOd per lb for one bale of good winters, but the owner's ideas being much in excess of this figure the lot was passed in, as also were several other lots which did not meet consignors' limits.

Sheepskins. — The weekly sales were as usual held on Monday last, and very large catalogues of all descriptions were submitted to competition at the various stores. Attendance was good, comprising all the local fellmongers and exporters. Bidding was spirited, but in sympathy with wool telegrams from London and Melbourne prices were scarcely supported, a decline of about 6d per skin on f ull-wooled orossbreds and merinos being observable. A few extra heavy lines of butchers' crossbreds fetched an exceptionally high price, say 5s lOd to 6s sd. We quote crossbreds from 3s lOd to 4s 6d for medium weights ; and up to 6's 5d for extra heavy do ; do merinos, 3s to 5s Id ; dry crossbreds from Is 3d to 5s 6d ; merinos, Is 2d to 5s 4d ; lambskins (dry), Is to 3s 4d.

Hides. — There is no alteration to report. The market continues dull and sales are still difficult to effct. The quotations are — for heavy weights 3f d to dhd ; medium parcels, 2|d ; and badly cut and slippy difficult to quit.

Tallow. — The following are the quotations, viz.: Prime mutton, 18s to 19s; well rendered, 15s to 17s ; medium, 14s to 15s ; inferior, 11s to 14s ; rough fat— prime, 9s to 10s 6d ; inferior to medium, 5a 6d to 9s 6r\.

Grain. — Wheat : There still continues a fair demand for prime parcels of wheat, and the following values are obtained— For prime lots of Tuscan or velvet, 4s \p& ss ; medium, 4s 0d. v to 4b 9"d ; inferior cfualiijy, for which there is no*fc

much demand, 4s 3d to 4s Sd } fowl feed, it to 4s 2d ; but although the demaricf Is brisk, buyers are not inclined to purchase to any eateat. Oats : Several fresh consignments have lately been arriving during the past week, but unless for local demand business is quiet. The prices ruling m the Australian colonies leave no margin for speculation, and the result is that the demand is limited and practically there is little doing. The values to-day are— for prime milling lslOdto 2s per bushel; heavy bright feed, Is lOd ; medium, Is 9d to Is lOd. Barley ; The demand is by no means brisk, and the quotations are nominally 2s lOd to 3s Id ; for bright malting and milling, 2s Gd to 2s 9d; feed, 2s 3d to 2d 6d.
