PURAKANUI CATTLE YARDS.
Mr J. F. M. Fbaser introduced a deputation of settlers from Purakanui who wished to represent to the Ministry that the proposed removal of the cattle yards from Purakanui to Mihiwaka was undesirable. The deputation consisted of Messrt Foote, Ball, Percival, Miller, and Driver. It was explained that Purakanui had been selected as the site for cattle yards and a vote obtained for the erection of yards there, but that . subsequently misrepresentations had been made, the result of which was that the yards would probably be erected at Mihiwaka, a mile from Purakanui. The interests both of the department and of the largest number of settlers would, it was stated, be served by the construction of the yards at the site originally decided upon, and the deputation were willing that the matter should be left to the decision of the Railway department. The Hon. Mr Labnach also promised to bring this matter under the attention of the Minister of Public Works.
