CRICKET.

A meeting of the committee of the Otago Cricketers' Association was held on Wednesday to consider a letter from Mr A. M. Ollivier, of Christchurch (acting as agent for the Australian Eleven), suggesting that the association offer a lump sum to the Australians for a match at Dunedin. It was pointed out that the terms offered by this association compared favourably with those offered by Canterbury, but a guarantee was out of the question in view of the financial position of the association. It was decided that the association are not in a position to offer a lump sum, and that the terms previously offered be adhered to. A letter was read from Mr Wathen offering to present a bat each to the best senior and junior bowler for the season, and leaving? it to the association to decide in what manner the bowling shall be judged. It was resolved that Mr Wathen's kind offer be accepted with thanks, and that the bat for senior bowling be presented to the bowler having the best average in cup matches, to be decided by the Cup Committee, and that for the best junior bowler to the bowler having the best average in junior association matches, and that he must have bowled over a certain number of balls to entitle him to the trophy.

(Per United Press Association.)

Wellington, October 27. At a meeting of *he Cricket Association tonight it was decided to offer the Australian team the same terms as that offered to the English team— viz., 90 per cent. The Auckland Association is to be asked to arrange a match for Easter.
